 Nuria Llagostera Vives captured her first career singles title on Sunday, defeating No.6 seed Jie Zheng in the finals of the Grand Prix S.A.R. La Princesse Lalla Meryem.The No.2 seed, currently ranked No.57 in the world, dropped just one set during her week-long run in Rabat, Morocco, capping off her week with a 64 62 win against Zheng in Sunday's final.Llagostera Vives opened the week with straight set victories against wild card Bahia Mouhtassine and Anne Kremer before mounting a three-set win against No.7 seed Arantxa Parra Santonja. From there, she defeated defending champion Emilie Loit in the semifinals to reach her first career singles final.Zheng was playing in her second Tour final in 2005, having won her first title earlier this year in Hobart. After surviving a three-set match with Catalina Castano in the first round, Zheng then went on to defeat lucky loser Maureen Drake and No.4 Tathiana Garbin before reaching the final when countrywoman and top seed Na Li retired in the first set of their semifinal match with a right ankle strain.With the win, Llagostera Vives was able to avenge a previous loss to Zheng almost two years ago.
